That moan-y noise you guys have been hearing wafting over Therian hills lately?
Yeah . . . is me.
Venting Ye Olde Spleene . . . as I try to figger out . . .
an efficient way to locate invisible clues . . . while in Active Mode.
Argh.
I thought maybe the old DOID labels might help . . . you know . . . look for the oddball number in the thicket of palm tree DOIDs.
But I end up quickly bogging down the innards . . . of my trusty . . . but OLDER . . . Radeon All-in-Wonder video card . . . and makes it temporarily lose its mind.
Only has 64MB on board, and is vintage . . . at least as far as computer stuff goes.
Runs graphic-intensive games like Myst IV . . . and ran the currently "running underground in small packs" URU . . .
and has no trouble . . . creating There for the Tinkster . . . other than lag sometimes . . . at intensively dropped locations.
Then the old walking through jello . . . or "Let's play statue!" stuff crops up.
So . . . is there another way . . . to get that elusive . . . invisibility to register in Active Mode . . . as easily as it does in Straight Line Mode?

Hiyas Tinkster I am always in regular mode and only use action mode when biking. So, not sure if I am fully aware of the differences or not. On the invisible clues, I have to use the DOIDs as well. They are a pain to deal with and eat up memory. When you say "as easily as it does in Straight Line Mode" what exactly do you mean? I thought the DOIDs appeared exactly the same.. just the absense of the action tags...

oops . . . I forgot to warn you guys . . . I have a tendency to figurative terms . . . when I don't recall . . . or maybe even know . . . the generally accepted term for something.
"straight line" mode translates . . . I guess . . . to whatever the Non-Action Mode is actually called.
I used "straight line" because . . . you have to look straight ahead . . . no looking up or down.
I am far more comfortable in Action Mode . . . since I am an innate explorer . . . curious about the little stuff that slides by as I pass.
I'm alway caught up by something caught in the corner of a glance . . . like the barnacle houses . . . clinging to cliff walls in Tyr's ravines . . . saw them as I crossed a bridge below them.
So . . . I am almost always in Action Mode . . . which means the "arrows in a circle" are not in my field of vision . . .
unless I happen to be pressing the Control key . . . AND . . . am in the near vicinity of one.
I was hoping there was something . . . that could aleviate the slow forward progress . . . and constant clicking on the control key . . . every few steps when looking for an invisible clue.
(Frankly, I prefer the lockboxes and visual stuff . . . for parking clues . . . but then I'm a peculiar flavor of noob, too).
This whole thing will likely not bother me at all . . . after I've gotten a few successful invisible clue quests under me belt.
Yep.
In the meantime . . . do I need to start resigning meself . . . to being restricted to Non-Action Mode . . . when questing for invisible clues? *dreads inevitable answer*

Ahhhh... ok... gotcha, Tinkster Yeah.. all we can do is "Doid Hunt". It really IS a pain, isn't it? I have heard of people replacing the invisible clue files with something else, like a big flag. But, I have no idea how they did it exactly. So, I just keep Doid Hunting. All I can offer is to just keep at it and it will get easier. And, contact There and your MAB Reps to try to get the visible clues returned to Shop Central.

Oh wow!
THAT's why all the "invisible clue" quests?
Argh . . . why would they do that . . . if the ultimate goal is to build up Therian population?
I vote for offering that red helper bot fer holdin' clooz!
I LOVE that little guy . . . got one waiting at my PAZ . . . to hold my next Tome.
The bigger blue one is a little overwhelming . . . sort of Starship Titanic-y . . .
But Ole Red's a sort of clone to one of my wierd buddies . . . in . . . ummm . . . parallel explorations in parallel worlds.
He'd be cool to see holding out a clue for me.
(THAT sounds gooood and sane -- not crazy at all, right?)
P.S. Oh! BTW, was it something I said?
The last two quests I started have suddenly disappeared, I think . . . (didn't think the die off date had come round yet).
At least I didn't find 'em . . . when I went back to the initial starting place . . . looking for them.
NOW . . . not only the clooz are invisiblle . . . the QUESTS are! Argh again!
They must have seen the Tinkster comin . . . then ducked and covered.
Yep . . . now I gotta do DaDOID . . . just to find a quest, too.

LOL!! Tinkster... hehe.. more than likely the quest ended. Most quest writers will have a set time for their quest to be out which doesn't match the time that the kit will stay out in world. For instance, the weekly Adventure Quest Club sponsored ones normally start on Wednesday and end on Sunday night. On the why... Well, there are a few reasons. At one time, the lockbox and balloon kits were given out as level-up rewards. Then we were hit with an inventory problem where items that were placed inside a folder would balloon out of the folder and be at the top of our inventory list. That was quite annoying, especially for the non-quest people. The kits that were given as rewards could not be sold, traded, given or even discarded. So there was a large portion of the population being forced to deal with these kits affecting their inventory that wanted nothing to do with them. In fact, this gave questing itself a bad name for quite awhile. A workaround for that issue was to drop the clues inworld. Many that were angry over not being able to just delete the kits would just leave them anywhere as a form of protest.. roads, landmarks, etc. There were many long walls of them that basically blocked areas. The Great Wall of Zephyr is a legend now.. as it was created by lockbox clues and was literally a wall across the Zephyr entrance. The protests were quite creative. 'wink Add some inconsiderate clues being dropped and 'tada the issue of clues being clutter arose. Then we were hit by the Out of Order bug. This one is still being worked on. *sigh* But at least they ARE working on it. With all of the issues, the company decided to remove the visible kits from Shop Central (clutter issue) and place the invisible kits in the Test Item area (as they are bugged). The questing community has begged and done everything we can think of to try to get the visible kits back for purchase. And, we are still trying. 'wink I babbled.. I know... but.. *sigh* There ya go!
